Abstract

681,709. Air-tight lids; securing container lids &c. COOKSON, W. April 14, 1950 [July 20, 1949; Aug. 3, ]949], Nos. 19153/49 and 20215/49. Classes 66 and 125(iii) A cylindrical metal drum a has, around its periphery at the open end, a spring locking section comprising a nose b and a springy skirt c at an angle to the drum wall, and a circular lid having a curved periphery with a bend h to fit the nose b and a channelled clip ring i with a flange j and edge rim k this ring being joined at its ends by a quick release device x, z (Fig. 4) or m, n (Fig. 3) and a rubber gasket l being fitted between the lid and the container to complete the seal. In a modification the closure is applied to a fibre board or other non-metal container, the nose portion and the co-operating bend h being attached to the container and fibre board lid respectively instead of being integral therewith and in another modification the closure is applied to the bottom of a container the bottom disc being attached to a modified channel ring which is forced over the springy skirt.
