Abstract

281,818. Aliverti, L., and Williams, E. Oct. 12, 1926. Spray carburettors. -In a carburettor having fuel nozzles g, h, i arranged in a row in a float chamber f situated above the induction passage b, the float j is formed of wood impregnated or otherwise preserved e.g. by covering with metal or metal paint, and having a specific gravity greater than that of the fuel. The float is bifurcated to. clear the fuel nozzles and is carried by pivoted arms k connected to the fuel valve m, the parts of the arms k in the side of the pivot opposite to that of the float acting as counter weights. The fuel nozzles are each provided with inlets for atomizing-air and with a series of calibrated fuel inlet orifices w of varying size, the particular orifice in use being determined by the setting of a ring x provided with an orifice y. The outlet of the pilot nozzle g is controlled by a needle valve t around the stem of which air is admitted through holes u<1> controlled by a sleeve v. The central nozzle h is provided with two outlets, one opening into the choke tube b<1> and controlled by the throttle valve e, and the other s situated on the air inlet side of the throttle. The throttle valve e consists of a plate pivoted at e<1>, Fig. 4, and provided with a projection q<1> adapted to engage a stop q on an arm r when fully open. The valve e and arm r may be interchanged according as the control for the valve is required to be from the right or the left hand side. The air inlet is provided with gauze baffles z.
