Abstract
248,875. Adams, S. H., and Enderby, C. F. Jan. 1, 1925. Spray carburettors.-A small Venturi tube B is arranged concentrically around the fuel nozzle D to be moved axially, either by hand or by suction, within the main Venturi tube A so as to produce an energetic suction at the jet at starting and to provide an ample flow of air during normal running, the whole of the air admitted flowing past the jet orifice. Fitting over the nozzle D is a sleeve E which carries at its upper end a fuel control needle F and at its lower end rests on a lever K which is adjustably connected through a link S<1> with a lever J pivoted at S and connected to the lower part X of the small Venturi tube. This is also connected to an arm R of the throttle valve H by an adjustable link I,I<1> and when the throttle is opened the small Venturi tube and the lever J are lowered and the sleeve E raised so as to increase the air and fuel supplies together. A stop 0 is provided to limit the closing movement. The fuel escapes through holes at the top of the sleeve. In a modification a horizontal carburettor with a vertical fuel nozzle is described and in a further modification, the small Venturi tube and its associated parts are actuated by suction transmitted to a piston in a separate cylinder.
