Abstract

180,926. Binks (1920), Ltd., C., and Binks, C. July 6, 1921. Spray carburettors.-In carburettors having means for controlling a secondary supply of fuel to the main jet or to a second jet, by suction on the engine side of the throttle valve, the means comprise a valve d the stem D of which is attached to a piston or diaphragm E in a cylinder C connected by a passage c with the induction pipe on the engine side of the throttle valve G. The primary fuel supply in the construction shown in Fig. 1, passes through a conduit a and calibrated nozzle b<1>, the secondary supply passing through valve seating d<1> and conduit a<1> to the single nozzle B. The valve, d is kept open normally by a spring H and is closed as the suction above the throttle valve increases. In a modification, the secondary fuel supply passes to a second nozzle arranged in the choke tube by the side of the nozzle B. A by-pass is provided at Z. The secondary passage may be further controlled manually, or the valve seat d<1> may be replaced by others of different size.
