Abstract

281,710. Electrolux, Ltd., (Assignees of Platen-Munters Refrigerating System Aktiebolag). Dec. 4, 1926, [Convention date]. Addition to 270,319. Refrigerating, absorption systems for. - The liquor-circulating system described in the parent Specification is modified by the provision of an auxiliary chamber 2 in communication with the rectifier 3 and condenser 4 by a pipe 16, with the absorber 6 by a pipe 24, and with the generator 1 by a liquor pipe 8, 10 and by another pipe 11 having bends 14, 12 forming seals. The weak liquor flows from the generator to the absorber by a pipe 21, 22 forming an interchanger 9 with the strong liquor pipe 8, 10. The pipe 11 is formed with a wide mouth 15 in the generator or the part 13 of the pipe is otherwise constricted and enlarged to secure a strong liquid column during the sealing period. In operation, assuming the liquid in the vessels 1, 2, and 6 to start at the common level x, the heating of the generator forces the liquid down the pipes 10, 21 and up the pipe 13, and when the liquid reaches the level of the cup 15 liquid columns will remain in the pipes 10, 13 and a flow will be produced in the pipe 21 to the absorber. When the level has sunk to the bottom of the bend 14 gas will flow through the pipe 11 and force the liquid from the pipe into the chamber 2 and thus equalize the pressures again. Strong liquor will commence to flow from the chamber 2 through the pipe 8, 10 and the cycle will be repeated. The absorber 6 and chamber 2 are both above the level of the generator and the pipes 10 and 13 are both of greater length than the lift of liquid in the pipe 22. The upper part of the chamber 2 may serve as a rectifier and the pipes 22, 24 may be formed as an interchanger.
