Abstract
851,145. Refrigerating. ELECTROLUX Ltd. Jan. 31, 1958 [Feb. 27, 1957], No. 3262/58. Class 29 In a continuous cycle absorption system having a pump pipe 14 discharging into a stand-pipe 16, vapour normally flowing through pipes 19, 20, 21 to the condenser but, for defrosting, flowing through pipes 22, 24 direct to the evaporator when a liquid seal in these pipes is broken by syphon 25, 23, the liquid level in standpipe 16 is prevented from rising, due to the drop in generator pressure during defrosting, so far as to interfere with the operation of pump 14 by an overflow 27 leading into pipe 20. Overflow 27 may be large enough to permit also gas flow to pipe 20, pipe 19 then being omitted.
