Abstract

212,572. Platen-Munters Refrigerating System Aktiebolag, (Assignees of Platen, B. C. von, Munters, C. G., and Tillquist, H.). March 8, 1923, [Convention date]. Refrigerating absorption machines and processes for. - The strong liquor flows from the absorber A through a pipe P into a vessel T, from which rises a capillary tube U leading to the top of the generator K. A chamber Q in the liquid space of the generator communicates through a pipe V with the vessel T, whereby upon the accumulation of generated gas in the chamber Q pressure is transmitted to the vessel T to raise the liquor through the capillarv tube. As soon as the lower end of the capillary tube is exposed the pressures in the vessels Q, T and the gas space of the generator are equalized, and liquor again flows into the vessel T and seals the end of the tube U, the process then being repeated. The pressure for raising the liquor may be obtained by heating the vessel T, in which case the vessel Q may be dispensed with and the vessel T and pipe U may be arranged within the generator. The weak liquor, under the superior head of liquid in the generator, flows through a pipe L passing through the pipe P to the top of the absorber, which is arranged in the cooling-tank @ of the condenser C. The absorber A and evaporator G are formed with cells F filled with loose material such as metal shavings E, and hydrogen or other inert gas circulates between them to equalize the pressure throughout the system. Specification 202,602 is referred to.
