Abstract

223,395. Aktiebolaget Zander & Ingestr÷m, and Hylander, H. Oct. 10, 1923. Absorption processes.-The weak liquor in the generator 1 of a continuous-cycle system is replenished with vapour by utilizing osmotic pressure. A semi-permeable membrane 8, such as unglazed porcelain treated with paraffin, may be arranged -between the absorber 6 and the generator. The membrane may consist of a liquid enclosed between two membranes of indiarubber, the ammonia vapour passing through these to the generator. Alternatively, the vapour from the evaporator 5 may pass directly to a membrane in a vessel forming part of the generator and containing an unsaturated solution of ammonia, and be thus dissolved directly in liquor in a part of the generator. The membrane may be arranged between the evaporator and the absorber.
