Abstract

236,101. Senssenbrenner, C. Dec. 1, 1924. Refrigerating, absorption machines for.-In a simple valveless apparatus working on the reversing system wherein the generator-absorber vessel a is fitted with a movable bell-shaped baffle h which rises as the result of gas pressure during the generating period and sinks during the absorption period, an open-ended tubular baffle i, Fig. 1, is supported within the bell by floats k. During the generating period, the gas developed within the bell escapes between the pipe i and the bell, and any insoluble vapour or gas is driven out of the bell into the gas space of the vessel a. During the absorption period, the bell sinks as shown in Fig. 2, and the pipe i bears against the upper end of the bell. The returning gas enters the liquor by passing around the lower edge of the bell. In a modification the bell may be fitted with an open-ended central tube l, Fig. 4, around which is floated a narrow pipe i, the gas entering and leaving the bell by the central pipe l.
