360,290. Washing-boilers. ELFVING, T. M., 32, Nordenskj÷ldsgatan, Stockholm. Feb. 3, 1931, No. 3430. Convention date, Feb. 3, 1930. [Class 64 (i).] A washing - boiler is fitted with one or more condensers which may be alternately or intermittently supplied with cooling medium to cause periodic pressure variations in the apparatus. The boiler comprises two chambers 5, 6, shown in the Figure, with condensers 7, 8, alternately supplied with cooling medium through a valve 9 which is driven by the cooling medium pressure. In another construction a bell, containing a condenser intermittently supplied, is immersed in a vessel open to the atmosphere. Perforated screens 13, 14 hold the articles to be washed in position so that the oscillations of the liquid caused by the pressure variations will wash them. Cocks 10, 11 are closed during operation and may put the chambers into communication with the atmosphere or an evacuating device to adjust the mean pressure of operation. The whole boiler may swing on a horizontal axis and the lid 2, which is provided with packing 12, may be at the bottom instead of the top.
