Abstract

264,756. Walker & Homfrays, Ltd., and File, G. M. Sept. 13, 1926. Vessels, washing. -Apparatus for washing glasses and other hollow vessels comprises a cover 4 provided with perforated tubes 7, 8, the central tube 7 surrounding a valve rod 9 adapted, when pressed inwardly against the action of springs 16, 17, to engage a valve stem 13 and open, firstly, a relief-valve 14 and, subsequently, a main valve 15 to permit liquid to flow through the tubes. The rod 9 is provided with an end piece 10 of rubber or similar material. Movement of the rod is limited by a slot 11 therein, which is engaged by a pin 12 passing through the tube 7. Pads or buffers 22 arranged between the tubes 8 avoid risk of breakage of the article being washed. In a modification, the tubes 8 are dispensed with and the cover 4 has double walls, the inner wall being perforated. Channels, from which the water is ejected, may be formed between the two walls. According to one of the Provisional Specifications, the apparatus may be modified for washing articles such as plates and saucers.
