Abstract

309,878. Haimes, R. June 30, 1928. Drinking-vessels, washing.-An appliance for cleaning drinking-vessels and like articles comprises a receptacle 1, a platform 11 for supporting the vessel being cleaned, and a composite valve actuated by pressure exerted upon the vessel and adapted to control the flow of water to nozzles or jets 7, 9, for the purpose of washing, respectively, the interior and exterior of the vessel. The valve comprises a main valve 15 and a smaller spring-pressed valve 16 adapted to close an aperture 15<c> in the main valve. The valve 16 bears against a shoulder on a tapered spindle 17 provided with a head 17<b> cut away at the sides, the head supporting a tube 5 which carries the platform 11 and the nozzles 7, 9. Liquid is supplied to the valve chamber through a pipe 13 adapted to be connected to a flexible pipe 13a in communication with a source of water supply. The platform 11 may be provided with grooves 11<a> or projections to facilitate cleaning the rim of the vessel and may also be provided with rollers so that the vessel may be rotated easily by hand while being cleaned. To facilitate the washing of fragile vessels, the platform may be supported on springs interposed between the platform and an abutment on the tube 5.
