[Class 46] [Also in Groups II and XVIII] A vessel 13 containing a solution of sodium hypochlorite is fitted with an air tube 16 and an outlet tube 15 depending into an equalising vessel 12 fitted with a syphon tube 17 so that, when the inlet end of the air tube 16 is uncovered by the fall of the liquid level in the vessel 12, more air is admitted into the vessel 13 to allow more solution to flow into the vessel 12, the solution being thereby syphoned at a uniform rate irrespective of the volume in the vessel 13. The tubes 15, 16 may depend into an inner vessel 12a provided with a small leak hole. The outlet end of the syphon tube 17 extends through a hole in the cabinet 10 and may be raised to cut off the flow by means of an arm 18 extended in the form of a hand lever or, preferably, connected with a spring-loaded piston 20 subjected through a pipe 22 to pressure from the water pumping main for automatic operation. Addition diluting water may be taken from the pipe 22 to the funnel 23 through which the solution is fed to the water being treated. In a modification, the vessel 13 stands alongside the vessel 12 on a base having a bracket carrying the automatic control, the liquid tube 15 extends through the side of the vessel 13 and is provided with a tap, and the air tube 16 extends through a top cap and is connected by a junction box to a further external vertical tube depending into the vessel 12.
