Abstract

<PICT:0756820/III/1> Apparatus for degasifying water, particularly boiler feed water, under superatmospheric pressure, comprising a vessel 1, a spraying device 2 near one end supplying the water in the form of a screen 4, gas outlets 11, and means for supplying steam to the vessel, is characterized by a horizontal steam discharge pipe 9 arranged above the water-level in the vessel at the end remote from the spraying device and extending substantially the full width of the water level. Steam flows along the surface of the water and may pass through pipe 10 in partition 5 to a point below the water screen 4. Degasification of the water in the vessel is assisted by heat from a set of pipes 7 through which steam flows to tube 8 and discharge 9. Degasified water leaves the vessel at 12.
