Abstract
<PICT:0410762/III/1> Liquids are evaporated by trickling them over a nest of vertical gilled tubes 4, the gills 12 of adjacent tubes overlapping to prevent free vertical fall of the liquid. The latter is distributed from a feed pipe 13 with sight chamber 15 into a trough 17 from which it passes through apertures 20 into an annular channel in which are mounted hollow plugs 22 having pipes 24 leading to the gilled tubes, the plugs carrying adjustable caps 21 provided with slots 23. The tubes are mounted in a casing 1 from which vapours and residues are removed through pipes 25, 26. Heating fluid is supplied to and from the pipes 4 through conduits 7, 8.
