Abstract
Apparatus for use, e.g. for evaporating benzine from a mixture of oil and benzine, comprises a casing containing chambers 91--94 connected with one another by sleeves on tubes 100, 101, and with a common condenser through concentric tubes 112--115. The mixture enters the chamber 91 through a duct 90 and passes through the sleeves and the intermediate chambers to an outlet 95 in the uppermost <PICT:0433847/III/1> chamber, and the steam is supplied through an inlet 99 and enters the tubes 100, 101, the condensate being withdrawn through an outlet 119. The evaporated benzine rises through the concentric tubes to the condenser. Steam may be sprayed into the oil in the chamber 94 through orifices 120 in the tubes 100, 101 to remove the last traces of benzine therefrom. The apparatus may be used for distilling the volatile constituents of mineral oil in which case the concentric tubes are connected to separate condensers.
