Abstract
In separate heater and evaporator apparatus comprising an evaporator m and a steam-heated tubular heater a inclined thereto, the tubes d, Fig. 1, are arranged in staggered relation to afford a clear path for condensate to fall on baffles e, provided with perforations f through <PICT:0384741/III/1> <PICT:0384741/III/2> which the condensate falls on to a tube g and thus heats the liquid flowing therethrough from the evaporator m. The dilute liquor if cold is introduced by an injector n or an impeller into the tube g but if hot is injected directly into the tubes d. A separator q prevents removal of entrained drops with the vapours through the tube r<1>. Several units may be connected in multiple effect.
