Abstract
<PICT:0446587/III/1> An evaporator comprises tubes c surrounded by a casing a forming a heating steam space, the upper header of the tube unit communicating with a separator d the vapour from which passes to a condenser e, and vapour is withdrawn from the main stream by an injector j operated by live steam and supplied to the heating steam space of the casing a. Liquid is continuously circulated between the tubes c and separator d by a pump h. When the concentration is sufficient liquid is withdrawn from the separator by pump m.
