Abstract

<PICT:0406490/III/1> In distilling or evaporating liquids in a series of separate evaporators of which one evaporator is heated by the vapours evolved therefrom passed through a compressor the remaining evaporators are heated by low pressure steam supplied from the exhaust of the motor which drives the compressor. Alcohol wort is distilled in a column a heated by the vapours evolved compressed in a compressor 1 and circulated through a coil 4. Part of the condensate thus formed is fed through a pipe b into a distillation column c and thence into a dehydration column e heated by coils 6 supplied with exhaust steam from the motor driven by high pressure steam fed through a pipe 2.
