Abstract

427,437. Heating water. MAXOL HEATERS, Ltd., DAVIS, H., and LOMAX, W., 54, Mytton Street, Manchester. Dec. 27, 1933, No. 36307. [Class 64 (i)] In a water heater having two or more annular spaces c, c<1> with an annular heating space D for flue gases between them and a cylindrical water chamber C<2> at the top with which the annular spaces connect by a pipe c<3>, a pipe H connects the top of the chamber C<2> to an external water supply tank F to lead steam in to heat the feed water before it passes through a pipe f<2> to the base of the annular jacket C. Elbow pipes d connect the base of the chamber C<2> with the space D to lead flue gases out through a cover E. The pipe H projects into an open-topped tube g with a perforated base g<1> in the supply tank F and water entering through a float valve f is led into the tube g by a pipe G. Vertical, oblique or spiral fins c on the vessel C guide flue gas up the space D. Baffle plates c<2> distribute incoming water equally in the chamber C2, from which water is drawn off through a tap K or through an outlet pipe passing from the bottom of the chamber C<2> through the space D as described in Specification 368,323.
