Abstract
<PICT:0353346/III/1> In separate heater and evaporator apparatus for distilling water mixed with chemicals to prevent incrustation as described in the parent Specification in which a decanting cylinder 5 is provided in the evaporator 2, the walls of the cylinder 5 are extended to come above the general level of the water so that only the crude feed water mixed with reagent enters the decanter 5, thus permitting independent rates of flow of the water passing through the decanter and of that circulating between the heater 1 and the evaporator 2. The water is supplied through a pipe 10 over a diffuser 11 and the pipe 3 delivering water from the heater is arranged to enter the evaporator tangentially.
