Abstract
481,060. Indicating liquid levels. MOHR, A. April 27, 1937, No. 12030. Convention date, April 27, 1936. [Class 123 (i)] In a liquid-level indicator in which the pressure necessary to force air out of a depending open-ended dip-tube is measured, the depending tube 27 terminates in a bell 28. The air escapes through a small tube 26 terminating in an oblique sharp-edged outlet 26a, the level of which determines the level of liquid within the bell 28. The tube 26 may be 1-2 mm. diameter. A gauze cover 32 may be provided on the mouth of the bell. In a modification, Fig. 2, the pipe 26 is arranged centrally within the bell, and terminates in an oblique openended tube 34, so that the air escapes into the liquid at the outlet 26a. Air passes from the dip tube to the pipe 26 by way of a sleeve 35 and nozzle 26b, the latter imposing a resistance to flow. Specification 294,469, [Class 123 (i)], is referred to.
