764,889. Measuring fluid flow. BOPP & REUTHER GES. May 10, 1954 [June 15, 1953], No. 13595/54. Class 69 (1). In a venturi-type flow meter, a streamlined element of small cross-sectional area is disposed at the throat and has a low-pressure tapping at a point of maximum local velocity, so that the differential pressure available is increased. As shown, a single element 5 with low-pressure tapping 7 is mounted on a hollow support 4 which serves as a pressure take-off. Further embodiments described and illustrated show (a) a number of elements 5 eccentrically mounted on shorter supports and having tappings leading to a common annular duct outside the throat; (b) a number of elements in the form of protuberances on the throat wall, each with a tapping leading to an annular duct; (c) an element in the form of an annular protuberance around the throat, which may lead directly into the outlet core of the venturi; and (d) an element in the form of a streamlined diametral bar.
