Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect the amount of intake air with high accuracy in the full operational region of engine by using two kinds of flow meters while compensating for their drawbacks mutually.
CONSTITUTION: The pressure of intake pipe is measured by the pressure converter 13 connected to the intake pipe 1 through the orifice 9 and the damper room 11, and the output is sent to the microcomputer 7 to calculate exhaust recycling rate from parameters of the cooling water temperature, engine revolving number, etc. And, when the exhaust recycling rate is zero and the pressure of the intake pipe is comparatively high, the amount of intake air is obtained from the pressure of the intake pipe and the revolving number of engine. On the other hand, in case where exhaust recycling is made, the amount of intake air is obtained from the data (output of differential converter 22) of Venturi meter. In addition, even in the case where the exhaust recycling rate is zero and the intake pipe pressure is compratively high, the amount of intake air is obtained from the signal of the Venturi meter.
