Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform an effective rectification and to measure the fluid flow exactly by selecting the ratio of the size of the rectifier cell in the conduit pipe to the diameter of the conduit pipe and the ratio of the distance between the rectifier and the Karmans's vortex generator to the cell size so that the values are in a fixed range.
CONSTITUTION: The flow rate or flow quantity of air introduced into the engine proper 1 through the air cleaner 2 and suction pipe 3 is measured by detecting the production period of Karman's vortex or frequency by the Karman's vortex generator 5 through the rectifier. When the ratio W/D of the size W of the rectifier cell to the diameter D of the pipe 3 is selected so that W/D≤0.2, a required rectification effect can be obtained without a drop of pressure and when the ratio L/W of the distance L between the rectifier 6 and the vortex generator 5 to the cell size W is selected so that 5≤L/W≤2.5, the air flow can sufficiently be stabilized to measure the fluid flow exactly.
