Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve measuring performance in low-density of low-speed condition, in a flow velocity measuring equipment provided with a plume-like eddy current generating body in a fluid body, by making such an arrangement that width of section of the eddy current generating body is to become smaller toward the downstream and that the surface opposite to the flow is to become concave.
CONSTITUTION: A pulme-like eddy current generating body 21 is provided in a fluid body. A surface 21C opposite to a flow is formed into a concavity, and the ratio between the curvature radius R and a length (d) of the concavity 21C is selected within a range of R/d=1.4W2.5. The eddy current generating body is made of a surface 21B, width of which section is to become smaller toward the down-stream. This surface 21B is provided with a pair of eddy current detecting unit consisting of a diaphragm 22, an electrode 23, an insulation material 24, a charged liquid 25 and a through passage 26, etc. As corner of the front surface forms an acute angle, and since exfoliation of the fluid body hitting the concave section is remarkable, strength of the eddy current is increased. And therefore, flow velocity can be measured positively even in the case of a gaseous body of low fluid density, etc., and instrumental error characteristics in the low flow velocity region can be improved.
