Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the current rectifying effect and measurement accuracy in a flow rate measuring device, by limiting to not less than a predetermined level the lower limit of a ratio of the thickness of cells of a current rectifying element of a rectifyer in a flow meter, in which a Karman's vortex streem is utilized, to the size of the cells.
CONSTITUTION: Current rectifyers are provided on the upstream side and downstreamside of a vortex generator in a flow meter utilizing a Karman's vortex streem. The ratio of the thickness D (the length in the direction in which a fluid flows) of a current rectifying element to the size W (the width) of the cells has a great influence on the current rectifying effect. The ratio of D to W in the upstream side current rectifyer is set to not less than 2.5 and it should preferably be set to as small a level as possible. When the ratio of D to W in the downstream side current ractifyer is set to not less than 5, a sufficient current rectifying effect can be obtained. As a result, a pressure loss can be minimized and the space in the flow meter can be effectively utilized. Therefore, this device permits improving the current rectifying effect and measuring accuracy.
