Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a rigid apparatus suited for explosionproof instrumentation by providing a nozzle flapper mechanism through the utilization of the side face of a vortex generating body or the columnar object disposed on the downstream side of the vortex generating body and detecting the number of displacements of this side face through the utilization of air pressure signals.
CONSTITUTION: The apparatus is provided with a tubular vortex generating body 1 which is inserted into the fluid to be measured flowing in a pipe 3 and forms von Karman's vortex streets or a force receiving body provided on the downstream side of the vortex generating body 1 and a nozzle 21 which is so provided as to constitute a nozzle flapper mechanism with the side face of the force receiving body or vortex generating body 1 and is constituted by an air pressure source 6 and a monostable multivibrator circuit 7 so as to obtain the air pressure signals vibrating at the frequencies corresponding to the velocity or rate of flow of the fluid to be measured with the nozzle flapper mechanism. Hence, the apparatus which is of rigid construction, is suitable for measurement of corrosive fluid, high temperature fluid, etc. and is suited for safe explosionproof instrumentation may be obtained.
