Abstract

1,190,912. Valves. GERVASE INSTRUMENTS Ltd. 23 May, 1967 [7 March, 1966], No. 9936/66. Heading F2V. [Also in Division G1] In a fluid flow rate meter the effective area of a measuring orifice 12 is determined by relative position of a control member 10 in the orifice 12 dependent upon the differential pressure across the orifice 12 and on an amplifying plate 24 connected to increase the effective area in opposition to a spring 28. The flow rate is indicated by a pointer 34 on a scale 38. In further embodiments the amplifying plate is connected to a bellows (Figs. 2 and 3, not shown), the bellows being fed internally with the fluid flow outlet pressure or atmospheric pressure and subjected externally to fluid flow inlet pressure. In a further embodiment (Fig. 4, not shown) the control member is fixed and the orifice is provided in an amplifying plate 12 attached to a bellows The device can act as a non-return valve.
