Abstract

767,337. Hygrometers. C. U. R. A. PATENTS, Ltd. Aug. 25, 1955 [Aug. 25, 1954], No. 24791/54. Class 97(3) A method of measuring the wetness of steam flowing in a conduit 1 comprises passing the steam at a known rate through a venturi 4 and measuring the pressure difference between points upstream and downstream thereof. In the form shown a differential pressure gauge 8 measures the difference between the pressures at tapping points 6, 7 adjacent the entry and exit cones 3, 5. An associated flowmeter may comprise an orifice plate in the conduit with a differential pressure gauge connected to pressure tappings on opposite sides thereof. The whole apparatus is calibrated by passing different rates of flow of steam of known wetness.
