Abstract
237,827. Bonn, C. R. H. Feb. 24, 1925. Venturi and Pitot-tube apparatus.-Apparatus of known type for measuring the flow of fluids through a main comprises a by-pass a, Fig. 4, fitted with a meter b of any known type and connected to Pitot tubes projecting into the main. or to the throat and normal portion of a Venturi tube forming part of the main. When the fluid flows in the opposite direction in the main, a valve d and the meter b may be reversed bv connections f with a vane e, or the throat c<1>, Fig. 10, may be moved longitudinally by the fluid pressure. The by-pass may be connected to the main through chambers h with or without perforations, or passages j, and knife edges i may be provided. The by-pass is provided with a filter l, Fig. 7, an arrangement o of ball valves for the escape of air, charging valves v, and a fixed or adjustable throttle m. If desired, the throttle m may be automatically adjusted by variations in the temperature or specific gravity of the fluid.
