Abstract
752,775. Thermometers. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. Nov. 5, 1954 [Nov. 6, 1953], No. 32087/54. Class 97 (3). A device for measuring the temperature of a fluid flowing through a thick-walked pipe 1 comprises a thinner-walled pipe 2 connected at both ends to the pipe 1 so that some of the fluid flows through pipe 2, and a temperature sensitive element 3 for measuring the wall temperature of pipe 2. To promote flow of fluid through pipe 2, a constriction 4 may be placed in pipe 1 ahead of the inlet of pipe 2. Alternatively the outlet of pipe 2 may open' into a constricting throat of pipe 1, or again the inlet end of pipe 2 may be extended into pipe 1 and face upstream. Pipe 2 may include means such as expansion bellows to allow for differences in thermal expansion between it and pipe 1.
