938,856. Indicating fluid flow. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. April 12, 1962 [April 28, 1961], No. 14242/62. Class 69 (1). An indicating device for detecting variations in flow in a conduit comprises an open vessel 11, having a bottom outlet nozzle 23 calibrated for a low rate of flow, secured inside a tank 1 which has an inlet 3 which feeds the vessel 11, an outlet 8 and a level indicator 6 having a float 28; the dimensional arrangement of the vessel and the tank being such that at high rates of flow fluid runs over the top of the vessel and out through the space between its walls 15 and the tank 1, the cross-section of this space being at least equal to that of the inlet 3 and outlet 8. The orifice of the nozzle 23 is of such a size that at the minimum permissible rate of flow the level of liquid in the vessel remains constant. The inlet 3 protrudes at 3a into the tank. The vessel 11 is suspended on brackets 12. The float operates a level detector 31 through a stud 29, to move the rod 32 of a transmission system (not shown). The cap 33 of the float chamber is retained by a bayonet joint 36-37 and spring.
