Abstract

A self-acting water supply device for pot plants comprises a water container having a water outlet opening and an air inlet opening. In use, the water supply device may be positioned, with the inlet and outlet openings lowermost, in a tray such that water from the container flows out until the level of water in the tray reaches the level of the air inlet. thereby preventing air from entering the container so that water cease to flow out of the container. As the plant uses up the water in the tray air can enter the container through the air inlet allowing the water in the tray to be replenished until the air inlet is again covered.

Claims (4)

  1. Self Watering Svstem for Plants in Pots Claims 1. A Container for a pot plant, or pot plants, comprising a base tray and water container.
  2. 2. The base tray has supports in it on which a plant pot, or pots, fit.
  3. 3. The water container is airtight, apart from a hole, or holes, at or near its base which allows water into the base tray, until the hole, or holes, in the water container are covered to the extent that no more air will enter and thus no more water is released from the container.
  4. 4. The relationship between the hole, or holes, in the water container and the depth of water in the base tray is such that the depth of water in the base tray remains below the top of the supports in the base tray (cf Claim 2).

    Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows 1. A Container for a pot plant, or pot plants, comprising a base tray 1 and water container 4.
    2. The base tray 1 has supports 2 in it on which a plant pot 3, or pots, ilt.
    3. 'I'he water container 4 is airtight, apart from a hole 5, or holes, at or near its base which allows water into the base tray, until the hole, or holes, in the water container are covered to the extent that no more air will enter and thus no more water is released from the container.
