Abstract
280,009. Fowler & Co. (Leeds), Ltd., J., and Fowler, C. H. Oct. 7, 1926, Power cultivation.-For the cultivation of land from punts in irrigation canals or other waterways, one of a pair of points is provided with two independently driven winding drums 4, 8 and mechanisms for alternately winding up two hauling cables 2, 3 attached to the cultivating implement, and the other with one or more pulleys or snatch blocks 5, 6 around which one of the cables passes at the far side of the land being cultivated. The drums 4, 8 on the punt 9 are driven from an engine 10. The pulleys or snatch blocks 5, 6 are spaced apart on the punt 7 to keep the idle cable clear of the implement. The punts have winches 11 and anchor ropes 12 at both ends by means of which they may be anchored and hauled along the waterways. They also have pivoted booms 13 adapted to rest. on the land and carrying roller or other guides 15 for the cables 2, 3. The pulleys 5, 6 are connected with the corresponding boom 13 so as always to be in alignment with the guides 15. The implement 1 may be carried on the punt 7 when not in use.
