Abstract

Manoeuvring by pull on anchor ropes.-A floating structure carrying a sub-aqueous rock - cutting apparatus is manoeuvred by pulling on chains 1, 2, 3, each passing around opposite winch drums of two sets 4, 5, 6, and 7, 8, 9, and through a chain locker 10. These drums are arranged to be driven independently from a single engine d. The chain 1 passes from one side anchor at the bow to another side anchor at the bow, the chain 2 from an anchor ahead to an anchor astern, and the chain 3 from one side anchor at the stern to another side anchor at the stern as shown in Fig. 2.
