[Class 68 (ii).] A buoy or the like for raising or refloating sunken or stranded ships consists of a bag a of rubber-lined cotton or other canvas, preferably with double seams b, enclosed in a light metal cage c which consists of rings connected by longitudinal plates d, e. Each band consists of four quadrants connected by bolts f to some of which are attached perforated strip plates g. A manhole i, cables k and hooks j are fitted, together with an air supply pipe and valves. The hooks may be replaced by a cramp-like hook extending over a bulwark.
