Abstract

175,707. Griffin, T. Aug. 6, 1921. Bolts.-A bolt of the type comprising two longitudinally - arranged complementary members which are splayed outwards towards their ends, for use where the work is only accessible from one side such as on sunken ships, &c., has a permanent band around that portion of the bolt where the splay commences, to hold the parts together. Two members a, b are connected by a wire or like band c and are provided with enlarged heads a<1>, b<1> and a registering-pin d. A ball or roller may be provided between the members at the point where the splay commences. The bolt may also be provided with a collar to prevent slipping, or with a wedge or cone shaped member which can be drawn into the splayed portion by means of a spindle, to prevent it from collapsing under excessive stress.
