Abstract

178,694. Daniel, C. A., and O'Connor, H. March 29, 1921. Rackets.-In a tennis or like racket of the kind having a metal frame and a screw-actuated wedge for tightening the stringing, the ends of the frame extend into a tubular handle and are wedged firmly against the interior of the handle when the wedge is drawn down. In the form shown, the frame b is made from metallic tubing of kidney section fitted with eyelets b<2>, and the ends b<1> of the frame are secured within a tubular metal handle c by means of a metal wedge d tightened by nuts d<5>. The nuts bear on a disc d<3> placed against an annular projection d<4>. To facilitate the stringing operation at the wedge, one side of the wedge may be made detachable.
