Abstract
490,536. Hydroplane vessels. HAMPDEN, G. C. E., and DALZIEL, J. Feb. 16, 1937, No. 4679. [Class 133 (ii)] A hydroplane vessel has downwardly extending structures provided with a series of lifting plates enclosed within and supported by side plates, thus forming ducts, open only at the ends, of substantially constant cross-section. The lifting plates 16 have end flanges 20 for attaching to the side plates 17, the latter sloping rearwardly downward. When more than two side plates are used for each structure the outer plates may be situated rearwardly of the inner ones. In a modification two sets of lifting plates are supported in tandem by one set of side plates.
