Abstract

316,458. Moir, A. Aug. 30, 1928. Scraping-apparatus.-Apparatus for excavating peat, dredging river &c. beds, &c. comprises a scraper with a transverse blade a, and preferably with longitudinal blades b -and a top c, and a tray d connected to the scraper by eyes g engaging guide rods h; a main haulage cable. j is secured to a shackle bar i connected to cables k which pass over pulleys l on the scraper and are secured to the tray, whereby, on hauling on the main cable, the scraper first moves from the position of Fig. 1 to that of Fig. 3, to load the tray, the whole device then moving to dumping position. The device is then dumped by tightening the cable o and is returned by a, cable p. The cables may be controlled by four winches as shown, or they may form parts of a single cable controlled by two winches which may be adjacent.
