Heading E1F In a machine intended for the underground digging of clay longitudinally spaced, transversely extending digger blades are secured between spaced, endless chains circulating about a boom than can be swung both vertically and horizontally and can be advanced or withdrawn longitudinally. The boom is carried by a slide longitudinally movable in a carrier pivotally supported on a turntable about an axis at right angles to that of the turntable, which is mounted on a wheeled provided with vertically settable props. Sections of a conveyer apron may be secured beneath the chains beneath the blades to circulate around the boom with the chain.
