862,393. Mineral-mining machines; goaffilling. GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA. May 15, 1957 [May 18, 1956], No. 15453/57. Classes 68(1) and 85. [Also in Group X] A mine roof more particularly in steep seams, is supported by a number of hydraulic prop frames each comprising two frame units 11, 12 and the goaf screen shielding the gallery 32 from the goaf comprises sections 30 extending between each pair of frame units and sections 29 covering each frame. The frames are connected together in a manner to allow for their relative movement by chains 17 and the goaf screen sections 30 bear against flexible straps 30, 31 connected between props 19, 22. The frame units 11, 12, consisting of three and four props respectively, are connected together at floor and roof, by links 14, 15 which carry the screen sections 29 and each frame is moved forward by a cylinder 26 connected diagonally between the units 11, 12. Overlapping gates 37 hinged to the units screen the gallery from the coal face. The coal plough 271 is supported by a carriage 27 having skids guiding it along the roof, floor, pit props and the coal face. The carriage 27 is increased in width for each new cut until maximum width is reached whereupon the mine roof support system is advanced. The plough may be advanced by fluid pressure cylinders. The goaf screen may comprise two overlapping portions to be adjusted to the seam thickness.
