Abstract
1,057,157. Conveyers for mines. MASTABAR MINING EQUIPMENT CO. Ltd. Nov. 18, 1965, No. 33823/64. Heading B8A. Cam-plates 30 mounted on an articulated mine face conveyer 10 guide roof support units 18 during retraction of rams 26 such that the support units finish their movement normal to the line of the conveyer. Bending of the ram rods 28 due to the rams not being normal to the line of the conveyer is thus avoided and proper spacing of the units 18 is ensured. As each support unit is advanced, one of its front props 22 engages the adjacent cam 30 and the unit is laterally deflected. In Fig. 1 (not shown), two horizontal rams 58 operable independently of one another enable the support unit to be steered during advance. The cylinders of the rams are pivotally attached to a front shoe 46 for a single front prop 44, and each piston-rod 60 is attached to a cam-plate 50 which cooperates with a chamfered corner 48 of the shoe 46. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the rear ends of ram cylinders 64 are attached to the rear shoe 42 of the support unit. In Fig. 4 (not shown), the rams 72 are mounted within the rear shoe and are connected by link bars 74 to the cam-plates 50. Adjacent rams of adjacent support units are connected to the same cam-plate 70, thus reducing the number of cam-plates required, Fig. 3 (not shown).
