1316746 Advancing mine roof supports DOWTY MINING EQUIPMENT Ltd 16 Sept 1970 [26 Sept 1969] 47734/69 Heading E1P An advancing mine roof support for a longwall system comprises rigid shields 18, 19, 3 and a flexible shield consisting of bars 11, 12 welded to members 5, 6 of chain-link construction, the flexible shield being mounted for vertical adjustment on bars 22. The shield 18 is provided with a rack adapted to co-operate with ribs on the members 11, 12 to maintain relative vertical alignment of the flexible shield when the roof bar is raised or lowered for details of said rack, construction of flexible shield, its mounting and mode of actuation the Specification and remaining drawings (not shown), should be referred to.
