Abstract

657,718. Driving piles. COMPAGNIE INTERNATIONALE DES PIEUX ARMES FRANKIGNOUL SOC. ANON. Feb. 11, 1949, No. 3788. [Class 68 (ii)] A pile driver includes a pair of beams extending transversely of the platform and projecting beyond the side of the platform, the beams being spaced apart by a distance greater than the thickness of the pile. The beams serve as a track for the jack &c. and are operatively connected to four parallel guides. In the form shown in Fig. 3 the beams 13, carrying the carriage 14 of the jack &c. 16 which acts on the pile 17, are carried by longitudinal girders 12 which carry nuts 10 that traverse four vertical screw guide rods 9. In Fig. 4 the girders 12 traverse the guides 30 and are provided with pulleys 36, 40 around which pass cables 32, 37 respectively, connected to winch drums 34, 39. The cable 32 also passes round pulleys 35 carried by stationary cross-members 31, whilst the cable 37 also passes round pulleys 43 carried by the platform.
