1,121,715. Gangways. A. M. THOMSON. 24 May, 1967 [1 June, 1966], No. 24395/66. Heading B7J. A ship-to-shore gangway structure comprises an upper gangway 1 pivotally attachable to the ship 33 and having wheels at its lower end which thereby is movable (as the ship rises and falls) along a raisable platform 3, and a lower gangway 2 pivoted to the platform (or to a turntable thereon) and having wheels at its lower end which thereby is movable (as the platform 3 is raised or lowered) on the jetty 14. The platform 3 is guided by rollers between beams 9 carried by a wheeled frame 10 running on rails 13 set in the jetty 14, and is raised by a manual rack-and-pinion jack, or hydraulically, or cables wound on to motor-driven drums.
