Abstract

1472299 Step-by-step jacks MITSUI SHIPBUILDING & ENG CO Ltd 9 May 1974 [10 May 1973] 20630/74 Heading B8J [Also in Division E1] Lifting apparatus to raise and lower columns or legs with respect to a marine platform I or to raise and lower the platform on the columns or legs includes a column II with a pair of rings 1, 2 slidably mounted on the column one above the other. Piston-cylinder assemblies 12 vary the distance between the rings and nut 14 at the top, and an enlargement at the bottom, of the rods 13 secured to the platform limit the distance between the rings which are slidably mounted on the tie rods. Independently operable wedges 3, 8 engage the column and prevent movement of the associated rings along the columns in either direction as desired.
