Abstract

1300511 'Moveable platforms' R H SMITH 14 May 1971 [18 June 1970] 15016/71 Heading E1H A walking platform 7 has four corner posts 12 in which hydraulically liftable and lowerable ground engaging members 13 are mounted, and is connected to a subjacent frame 18 which is movable both longitudinally and transversely of the platform 7, the frame 18 also having four corner posts 22 and hydraulically actuated ground engaging members 23. In operation, with members 23 retracted the frame 18 is moved relative to platform 7, the longitudinal members 19 of the frame 18 in response to hydraulic rams 37, running on rollers 32, 34, Fig. 5 through hexagonal frames 31 carried just below the ends of the platform 7, to provide the relative longitudinal movement. The hexagonal frames 31 are themselves movably mounted in rectangular frames 26, so that by actuation of hydraulic rams 39 simultaneous transverse movement of frame 18 relative to platform 7 may be effected. At the end of a movement of the frame 18, the members 23 are lowered, and then the members 13 raised and the platform 7 moved relative to the now-fixed frame 18 to complete a walking step.
