Abstract

990,677. Mobile tower cranes. STAR CRANES Ltd. June 1, 1962 [June 1, 1961], No. 19889/61. Heading B8B. A mobile tower-crane 7, Fig. 1, is mounted on a base 2 which is provided with road wheels 5 and crawler tracks 4 mounted at right angles to each other. The crane is levelled and stabilized by hydraulic jacks 2a which movably support the crawler tracks. The tower is raised by a screw 12, Fig. 4, driven by a motor 13. A member 14, Fig. 6, attached to the tower engages the screw and is mounted on a beam 18 to the ends of which are attached struts 15, Fig. 4, by means of axles 17. Wheels 16 abut the tower and support its weight. As the member 14 moves along the tower it is guided by a channel 14c. Specification 990,678 is referred to.
